The Greatest Trilogy Of All Time Is Re-Releasing on June 16
I'm so sick of 2025 video games. Where's the fun?! Video games are too preoccupied with looking "realistic" and being "playable", but back in the 90s we didn't care about any of that shit. We wanted dumb mascots that tried to emulate the success of Mario 64 but didn't even come close, that's when gaming was at its peak.
Gex was there at that peak. The original game was a 2D side scroller that was decent, but forgettable, and ultimately overshadowed by the two much better 3D sequels, Gex: Enter The Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko.
Thanks to the folks at Limited Run Games, Gex is coming back on the 16th of June 2025 in the form of 'GEX Trilogy', a compilation of all three games in widescreen, higher resolution, and with smoother analog movement.
However, the new trailer doesn't necessarily fill me with confidence. It's obviously running at a higher resolution, but it's still extremely jaggy, with swimmy PS1 polygons remaining intact. It looks like they've done the bare minimum to update the game, with the same textures, models and lighting being used as in the original game.
At least they haven't called it GEX Remastered or something. It's just GEX Trilogy. It's those three games again. Fingers crossed that this leads to a GEX 4 or, in a perfect world, they'd finish GEX Jr. and release that.
Limited Run also has a couple of insane collectors editions for sale, including one with a statue and a giant blow-up GEX...
Just show me where my dick goes…
